Orit is an experienced software engineer who is passionate about open source and infrastructure with extensive experience with distributed systems and storage.
She is OpenShift Container Storage Architect at Red Hat, focusing on storage for Containers, hybrid cloud, multi cloud and edge.
She was a principal architect at Lightbits labs, a software-defined storage startup developing NVMe/TCP.
At Red Hat, she worked on Ceph object storage (Ceph Rados Gateway), a highly available distributed software-defined storage designed to scale and handle PetaBytes scale.
In her past role at Red Hat she Co-maintained and developed live migration for KVM/QEMU.
Previously at IBM Research Labs, she developed nested virtualization for KVM.

Ceph is a highly available distributed software-defined storage, that provides two object storage interfaces:
Rados provides native object storage API using a rich library with C/C++, java, python, go and several other bindings.
Ceph RGW (Rados Gateway) provides HTTP REST API that is Amazon S3 and OpenStack swift compatible.
In this talk I will introduce object storage foundations, best practices and Ceph object storage solution.

NVMe/TCP for your data center

NVMe/TCP is the latest transport added to the of the NVMe over Fabrics protocol and is part of Linux kernel 5.0. One of its great advantages is the use of TCP/IP, the most known network protocol that is implemented in every data center.
It provides performance latencies that are comparable with RDMA transport without requiring any network infrastructure changes.
In this talk, you will get a good understanding of the NVMe/TCP protocol and when to use it. We will also discuss disaggregated storage, and how it can reduce costs and increase usage efficiency, allowing you to get the most of your NVMe storage.

Architecting storage application for the public cloud economy

The public cloud presents a new economic model on computing - "pay as you go" model in which you pay only for what you consume, but you pay for everything: compute, storage, networking, QoS and more. This model suggests new considerations for applications architecture that minimize public cloud cost, the presentation discusses the need for storage applications on public cloud, new architecture considerations (with applicability for all types of applications) and presents alternatives for cost reduction of storage applications in the public cloud.
Disaster Recovery of Stateful Applications in a Multi-Cloud Enviorment

Have you ever wondered how to provide for disaster recovery of the state stored in your persistent volumes? What needs to happen to recover the workload on an alternate kubernetes cluster? How can the state be replicated and workloads recreated to use their replicated volumes? Our talk aims to elaborate on the various issues around recovering a workload and its state, in a multi-cluster and a multi region environment. We will demonstrate how replication capable storage systems, such as Ceph/Rook, instead of higher level tools, can be leveraged to provide disaster recovery of workloads across clusters. In addition this session will tease out features required in a multi-cluster control plane, to enable one-click disaster recovery solution for stateful workloads. Attendees will learn how to approach building disaster recovery solutions for their own clouds.
