Nishat is managing British Council’s education work in Pakistan and her association with British council spans over one and half decade. Nishat is the founding member and the first employee of Karakorum International University, the first university in Gilgit Baltistan province of Pakistan. She has a list of few more firsts to her credit. Nishat is the recipient of President of Pakistan Award of Excellence for best academic performance. She is the first female engineer from Gilgit Baltistan inspiring the other females to pursue their aims. Nishat was declared the Premier Chevening Scholar from Pakistan in year 2003. Nishat was awarded the title of Most Excellent Order of the Member of British Empire.
