PROPERLY Evaluating a Database for Your Solution With (More) CONFIDENCE
Software Engineering, Backend, DevOps
There is no such thing as a bad DB, only a mistreated one. Choosing a database can be crucial when designing your system. Choosing well, will make you prosperous. Choosing badly will have its consequences. It’ll start with your teammates talking about you behind your back, and before you know it, you will start questioning your engineering skills, your career, and eventually, your life. ok, NOT REALLY!!! Still, correctly weighing a database’s capabilities, use-cases, performance and scale is a task worth mastering as a Software Engineer, though not always an easy one. In this talk, I’ll share some viewpoints on how to start evaluating a DB like a pro, which points should be taken into account and why you should perform this process in each design you embark on.
