Even as developers, we almost never work with our computers alone. We have teammates, bosses, colleagues in other departments, not to mention clients. And even when we’re not in sales, we’re all in the business of selling ourselves and our ideas.
In this talk, I’ll explore how to build and maintain value driven relationships that will help you achieve your goals with the people you work with. This could mean your boss and the steps to promotion, or the tough client who just doesn’t get how much value you’ve given them.
More specifically we’ll discuss:
- The Why - why bother investing in your relationships
- Active listening and asking questions
- Some principles of persuasion
- Presentation and storytelling - key takeaways
