Frederike Kugland is the founder and CEO of femote, a Berlin-based HealthTech company building the next generation of gynaecological care. Combining her background in digital and data strategy with her own experience as a patient, she focuses on closing the gender research gap and redesigning how intimate health conditions are diagnosed and treated.

Her work centres on bringing evidence-based, accessible, and stigma-free care into the mainstream — from rapid diagnostics to digital treatment pathways and collaborative research. Frederike is known for her clear and data-driven perspective on women’s health, her critique of structural inequalities in healthcare, and her advocacy for integrating innovation into Germany’s existing healthcare system rather than building parallel structures.

She regularly writes and speaks about topics such as the gender data gap, the economics of FemTech, biases in healthcare innovation, and why women’s health is a societal issue — not a niche. Her mission: to make women’s health research, care, and technology as visible, funded, and valued as the rest of medicine.

Women’s health isn’t just a “niche” topic: It’s a trillion-dollar opportunity for innovation, impact, and economic growth that is still largely dormant. Today, women spend 25% more of their lives in poor health compared to men, costing society productivity, wellbeing, and progress. Yet, most health solutions and investments still overlook women’s unique needs.

In this talk, Frederike Kugland, founder of femote—a digital platform making gynaecological care more accessible, personalised, and inclusive—explores why closing the gender health gap benefits everyone, not just women. Drawing on real-world stories, surprising data, and her own entrepreneurial journey, Frederike will show how inclusive health innovation can unlock better care, smarter technology, and a stronger economy for all.
