Most serious injuries are currently treated with sutures and staples, which are considered painful, require high skills and training to be applied and sometimes leave ugly scars. Biomedical adhesives are attractive alternatives and they have been widely used in dermatology, surgery rooms, and in the field. Despite their obvious advantages, currently available tissue glues suffer from several shortcomings which limit their use in the clinic, such as poor mechanical properties, toxicity issues or luck of biodegradability. An ideal bioadhesive is liquid during application but solidify quickly after administration. It should maintain both adhesion and cohesion strength, biodegradability, elasticity, and biocompatibility. Our solution is a unique system based on biocompatible materials of low melting points, that can be applied into a hot-melt glue gun deviceand applied directly to the wound to close it.
