Opening the Black Box of Deep Speech Recognition

Data / AI / ML

Speech recognition is becoming an integral part of our lives, as it is now a commodity on our phones, and virtual assistants are becoming increasingly popular.
Implementing speech recognition with deep learning has made that possible.
But how does the magic happen? Well, it’s not that simple.

The task of speech recognition is a combination of the field of signal processing with Natural Language Processing. What would be the best way to turn a sound wave into a Neural Network input? How would it choose the most coherent sentences to return as output? How are new, unseen words handled?

Luba will describe the techniques and the challenges of the process of transforming sound into coherent text, using a neural network.
