Lilach is a group lead at vcita, a company built to empower small businesses and help owners gain independence and success. She believes in social equality and accessibility, in providing safe spaces for the promotion of minorities and in bridging social and gender gaps.
Originally a backend developer, Lilach first stepped up to a management role a few years ago in a high paced startup. She instantly fell in love with the action, the intense teamwork and the thrill of achieving big things together.
During this role, Lilach often found herself being the only woman around the table. She often had to wonder what is the right way to lead through situations while maintaining her own voice and following her instincts. Lilach believes that bottom up leadership, transparency, full partnership and trust can provide each of us with the room to become our best, most genuine selves.
Prior to her career in tech, Lilach spent a couple of years as a pastry chef in various patisseries and a gourmet catering company, where she met her partner. They live in south Tel Aviv with their 7 year old daughter and 4 year old twins.

MY TALKS
Cracking Into Black Boxes
Software Engineering, Backend, DevOps
Modern software systems require many integrations on a daily basis, handling an integrating with an undocumented system can be like cracking into a black box.
As a tech lead for a product in the Healthcare systems I often need to integrate with various health systems aka black boxes.
In our session we will dive into examples and learn how to magically open black boxes and how to make sure we close the loop and get back an acknowledgement of success.
I will share some of my experience and techniques to establish ‘black box best practices’.
Women Leadership in Tech: I Have Taken My Seat, Now What?
Women in Tech
A decade has passed since the revolutionary Ted Talk ‘Take a Seat at the table’ by Sheryl Sandberg. This talk inspired women (myself included) to step up and make their way into management positions. A decade has passed, and as a woman, it is easier to get a seat at the table. But the challenges are still there, they just look different. It's time to reevaluate these challenges so that we can start solving them.
A few years back, when I got my seat at the table,I learned that my leadership style was different from that of the men around me. Having no role model for this style, I was faced with the choice of following the trodden path, or trying to find my own way.
In my talk, I’m going to share with you what I desperately needed to hear when I first started leading. As a woman, you are different, and that’s ok. Trust your instincts and take a leap of faith.
In 2022, the new challenge we are facing is that of making room for women to lead in their own way, even if it differs from that of their managers. Overcoming this challenge is crucial not only for women's participation in leadership, but also for organizations themselves - in diversifying methods and approaches.
Defusing A Boom: How to handle overflowing, legacy sql tables
Soft Skills
Your DB has this notorious sql table, it has 100s of millions of rows, and counting. It’s old and of course - it holds core business logic data. The most queried columns are not all indexed. Performance is getting worse by the day. It’s starting to affect your clients. It’s only a matter of time before you will meet this problem late at night in one of your on-call duties. A ticking bomb.
The first thought that comes to mind is: let’s throw it away and create a brand new table! Let’s refactor, let’s use a new DB, new technology, hell, let’s create a brand new micro service around it! Indeed, that is very tempting. Out with the old, in with the new.
This is the classic startup mindset, unfortunately it doesn't work when your product scales up. In our talk, we are going to walk through the process of asking the right question at the right stages of refactoring. We are going to learn how to find data driven answers for these questions and see how that helps us make the right decisions. Stay tuned, come see if we were able to defuse the bomb or not.
A Tale of a Team in (Unstoppable) Scale
Leadership
Imagine you are at your first leadership role as a devs manager. The company you are working for is a high paced startup. Business is excelling, action is running fast, feature requests are coming in quick! And then, a huge project lands on your desk. One that requires twice the work force you have. Now this required some creativity in navigating through.
During this period of time I had to grow my team from 8 to 30. Sounds impossible? It was. This situation was the perfect simulation of hyper growth. You can be sure we made some mistakes along the way… Will throwing more people at the problem solve it? Take a wild guess.
In our talk I'm going to share with you my hard earned checklist of what to do and what not to do, when scaling teams. We will walk through the process together and map the change process within a team, into 3 key steps. We will learn how creating frequent small changes allows better and healthier scaling. We will learn how to act on time and not be paralyzed by the fear of change.
