Meital is a Software Engineer developing storage-related solutions at Toga-Networks.
When she realized that Computer Science is her passion, she changed her major from Chemistry and moved to Tel-Aviv University.
Recently Meital has been volunteering at “She Codes” as a Python mentor,
giving young developers a glance at the software world.
She gives and coordinates Lightning-Talks on software development on a weekly basis and in her spare time, Meital loves cuddling her dogs, breaking her own records in 10 km runs, and practicing TRX.

If like me, you’re a bit of a control freak, have a great passion for exact things such as clearly declared variables, managing memory allocation on your own, and your programming background mostly consists of writing code in compiled languages, you probably see Python as an inferior language.

I used to think the same, until one day I decided to give it a try for a specific task, and as I had hoped it indeed saved me many hours of work.

Turns out that the same attributes that made it seem inferior can actually be exactly what you need for some tasks: not having to think about stuff like memory allocation, pointers, and type checking, leaves your mind clear to concentrate on what you actually want to build.

This lecture will help you see Python in a new light, how you can easily and quickly gain productivity, and show that on top of easy scripting and POC-ing, Python makes a strong candidate for your next backend language.

* Well, I never really hated it…
